Martin Luther King Jr. and His Famous Speech…

Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a poignant and inspiring speech entitled “I Have a Dream”, and our community listened to an original recording of that now famous outpouring of ideals to commemorate Marting Luther King Day. The speech has been used in many public speaking classes because of its inclusion of so many powerful components of skilled rhetoric. The words carried us with them as we listened, spellbound, to King’s vibrant voice. If you would like a large print copy of the speech, contact the Activities Department @ 243-6000.

Aren’t these beautiful? Our lovely local historian Ellen donated these wonderful old buttons for us to create some beautiful pins to wear on special occasions. Residents chose the colors and shapes they liked best and created these works of art. Thank you, Ellen, and great job everyone!
A Very Special Guest – D&C Senior Editor Jim Memmott Visits Morgan Estates

Welcoming Jim Memmott to our community was a real treat this past Wednesday. Mr. Memmott spoke about how he became interested in journalism in general and in the Democrat & Chronicle in particular. He is an interesting speaker, with a subtle humor that is delightful. We have invited him to return to our community and tell us some more tales about his life and his favorite stories! Thank you to all who came out to listen to our famous – or is it infamous? – neighbor!
Celebration of National Bird Day!

January 5th is National Bird Day, so to celebrate our love for our feathery friends we listened to bird calls, identified different bird varieties, and learned facts about these fascinating creatures. We have many bird lovers who were good at identifying their birds from photos shown on the newly repaired big screen in the living room. What a treat!
Honor Students Visit ME

Honor Students from Geneseo HS frosted and sprinkled with us as we created lovely Christmas cookies that were a special treat during Happy Hour this friday night. Thank you so much to these students and to all those who have come to visit, entertain, sing, play, and just generally make our holiday season a wonderful time of year!
